If you are single, with no dependents (you are not claiming any children on your tax return), have only one job (only one W-2 Form), and no one else is claiming you on their income tax, then the basic rate applies to you. Additionally, you must not own a house or real estate property and you do not qualify for itemized deductions. Lastly, you must not own stocks or bonds.
